Here is a short post on how I setup my rooftop tent on 1" rigid conduit and some spare U-bolt and saddles which grip the flat edge of the bed of my truck. Normally a rack would cost $800 or more but with this setup it can be free if you know some electricians who would normally have thrown some of the pipe away, all the way up to a little over $100 buying the hardware yourself.

I had purchased this rooftop tent with my Biden “stimmy check” back in 2018/2019 and put it on my Toyota 4Runner when I went camping.

Fast forward 6 years and its a lot more expensive for me to justify a bed tent rack so I decided to build my own.

As I mentioned above I used 4 sticks of some spare 10 foot 1" rigid and U-bolts to clamp down the roof top tent.

Not directly pictured are some clamps that come with the iKamper2.0 that are meant to strap down itself to the poles be-they round pipe or square tubing like i had on my 4Runner.

Pictured here is rooftop tent opened up. Stragegically you want to place the hardshell top against the wind, which in my case the top was facing west.
